The Government Pre-IAS Training Centre Amravati came into existence vide G.R.No.IAS-2009/Pra. Kra 35/09/mashi-2 dt.17/6/2013.The centre operates under the Department of Higher and Technical Education of the Govt. of Maharashtra. In order to accelerate the representation of the students from Maharashtra in the Indian Administrative Services, the Department of Higher and Technical Education of the Govt. of Maharashtra has already established training institutes at Mumbai, Kolhapur,Nagpur and Aurangabad.The Government Pre-IAS Training Institute Amravati is one of the unique ventures recently established under the Department of Higher and Technical Education of the Govt. of Maharashtra.
    The centre is presently situated in the Old Biology Department Building of Government Vidarbha Institute of Science and Humanities Campus. The centre is established with an aim to provide coaching; training and guidance for candidates from Maharashtra preparing for competitive examinations conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).The centre will provide guidance and impart training to the aspirants of the competitive examination such as Indian Administrative Services, Indian Police Services, Indian Foreign Services and other allied services absolutely free of cost. The centre will adopts an ‘Integrated Approach’ to develop the thinking capabilities of the civil services aspirants that will enable them to sail through the Preliminary exam, Main exam as well as Interview.
